Good music, good people, good fireworks and MOSQUITOES!? 4th of July is one of the best times of the year and we want you to enjoy it to the fullest extent. You can’t do that if you’re under attack! Try using these natural pest control methods to make your 4th of July experience more pleasant»

Citronella Candles
The scent of the smoke from a citronella candle scared mosquitoes off if you align them properly. But that is a big IF! You want to make sure the window is blowing the smoke TO your dining area and not AWAY from it!

Fans
Have you ever had a flight canceled because of weather? They don’t do that because of the rain, they do it because of the potential for high winds and lightning strikes. If you want to get rid of something that flies, just turn on the wind.

Garlic
As we know from the classic stories, garlic can repel the dead, but it can also repel annoying pests. The scent and the chemicals that they naturally secrete will be enough to keep the flies, ants and mosquitoes at bay.

Drink Covers
Canned and bottled beer is the way to go if you’re thinking alcohol this 4th of July. Putting any kind of sugary drink into a Solo cup is just like asking a bug to land in it. If you have a kids cup in the house, you might be better off with that!

Red Over White
White wine tends to be sweeter than red, and the mosquitoes are attracted to anything that is sweet. Any form of alcohol is going to attract bugs, but red less than white. White wine is a major no-no if you want to keep the mosquitoes off of your 4th of July guest list.

Lemons
Freshly cut lemons will freshen up your drinks and help keep bugs away. Their scent and citrus oils combine to create a natural repellent that is actually used in a lot of store-bought bug spray. Look for the lemon eucalyptus ingredient!.

Peppermint
While peppermint is something we associate with sweetness and positive memories, it actually has the exact opposite effect on bugs. Spiders and other crawlers seem to run and hide from the sight of peppermint leaves and they’re actually great for in-home pest control. Try lining your kitchen drawers with them!

We are all very fortunate to be Americans and we should all sit back, relax and give thanks to those who made this country what it is today. As you sit back and relax, we will be hard at work trying to make the Middlesex County area safe from pests. We’re on the job, no need to worry!
