The NFL season is back and with it comes guests of all different shapes and sizes. There are guests you want, like your neighbors and friends, and then there are guests like ants, mice and other pests! To prevent the latter, you need to make sure you are cleaning up after the big game is over. Neglecting to do this will lead to an all out blitz from the neighborhood creepy crawlers.
Sweeping
After you fill the party bowls with snacks of your choice, be sure to clean up after yourself. Take a broom and do a once over of the preparation area before you sit down to feast. Make sure you get underneath the counters and around the corners so that you leave no stone unturned.
Wiping
If one of your guests gets a bit clumsy, it is your responsibility to act fast. Keep a roll of paper towel handy and clean up spills before they soak into the floor. Ants and other bugs live off these delicious, sugary spills.
Wrapping
We aren’t talking about wrapping up for a tackle. The wrapping we want to see comes in the form of Ziploc bags and saran wrap. Whether it is wings, potato skins or pizza, it is not a good idea to leave food out for late arriving guests. Seal away all remnants of your meal and you can always take it back out if people get hungry later.
Washing
Mice, ants and other pests love a full sink. They can eat food right off your dirty plates and they can drink the water from your leaky faucet. It is like a bed & breakfast… in your sink! To combat this, try and wash dishes before you go to bed so these guys have to go elsewhere for their midnight snack.
